When God Removes the Crutch
Reduction may be the means by which God exposes misplaced confidence and restores dependence.

Gideon saw numbers as security; God saw numbers as a future temptation. Israel could win and then misunderstand the victory. Therefore, reduction became preparation. God removed what appeared necessary so the outcome could no longer be credited to human strength.
A holy pivot sometimes arrives through subtraction. Resources tighten, familiar helpers leave, or systems that once made us feel secure stop working. Not every loss is discipline, but some reductions expose how deeply our confidence migrated from God to the instrument He used.
Do not romanticize lack or reject wise support. The lesson is not that fewer resources are always holier. The lesson is that no resource may occupy the throne. When God removes a crutch, let dependence deepen rather than allowing fear to name the season abandoned.
