When Repentance Changes the Route
Repentance is not merely sorrow about the road; it is the decision to rise and return.

The younger son came to himself before he came home. Hunger exposed the bankruptcy of the far country, but recognition alone did not restore him. The pivot began when honest thought became a resolved return.
Regret can remain self-centered. It mourns consequences while preserving the mindset that produced them. Repentance tells the truth about sin, releases entitlement, and moves toward the Father without demanding control over the terms of restoration.
Do not measure repentance only by emotional intensity. Ask whether direction changed. Confession names the road; humility leaves it; grace receives the returning person. The Father’s compassion does not make the far country harmless. It makes home possible.
