Paul blesses God because believers have been blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. The grammar points to a completed gift, but the location matters: these blessings are ours in union with Christ. Paul immediately names election, adoption, redemption, forgiveness, revelation, inheritance, and the Spirit’s seal. This is not a guarantee of uninterrupted health, wealth, comfort, or control.
Prayer should not treat the Father as a miser who must be manipulated. Yet asking is not unbelief; Jesus taught His disciples to ask, seek, and knock. Mature prayer asks from covenant confidence rather than entitlement. We receive what God has promised, seek what we need, lament what hurts, and submit every request to His wisdom.
Stop measuring blessing only by visible ease. The believer may suffer and still possess adoption, forgiveness, the Spirit, access to God, and hope that cannot be foreclosed. Pray boldly because Christ opened the throne of grace, and pray humbly because the Giver—not our preferred outcome—defines what is truly good.
