FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV
2 Thessalonians 1:11
Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.THE WORD
Paul prays that God will make the Thessalonians worthy of their calling and fulfill every resolve for good by His power. Worthiness here is not earning salvation or becoming valuable enough for God to keep. It is a life increasingly corresponding to the gracious calling already received.
Grace initiates and divine power enables, yet believers genuinely participate. Cooperation looks like obedience, repentance, disciplined practice, wise counsel, and service—not anxious self-salvation. We do not manufacture holiness to persuade God to love us; because we are loved and called, we learn to walk in a manner consistent with that gift.
Ask where profession and practice remain misaligned. Then make one concrete resolve for good, dependent on God rather than inflated willpower. A worthy walk is not flawless performance. It is responsive faithfulness that lets the name of Jesus be honored in ordinary decisions.
