All Means All—and Grace Levels the Ground

Paul’s verdict is universal: all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. The standard is not the neighbor whose failures are more visible, nor the public sinner whose story makes ours appear respectable. God’s glory dismantles every ranking system by which religious pride tries to stand taller.

This universal diagnosis does not make every harm identical or eliminate accountability. Abuse, exploitation, and violence require protection, justice, and truthful consequences. Equal need for grace does not mean equal social impact. It means that no one possesses moral perfection from which to despise another person.

The gospel places pastor and prisoner, scholar and skeptic, admired leader and exposed offender beneath the same need for Christ. Grace therefore produces humility without moral confusion. We can name wrongdoing clearly, protect the wounded decisively, and still remember that salvation is received by empty hands.
