Romans 1:28
Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.THE WORD
Romans 1 describes humanity exchanging the knowledge of God for idolatry. The repeated phrase that God gave them up is judicial language: persistent refusal is allowed to bear its own moral fruit. It does not mean God becomes absent from creation or that believers may label every opponent’s mind worthless.
A debased mind is not a psychiatric diagnosis, intellectual disability, or permission to mock people. Paul is exposing moral reasoning that has rejected the Creator and then rationalized what destroys human dignity. The warning reaches the church too. Religious people can acknowledge God with their lips while excluding His authority from money, sexuality, power, prejudice, leadership, and private conduct.
Repentance begins where self-justification ends. Bring one protected conclusion back beneath Scripture, the character of Christ, truthful evidence, and accountable community. God’s judgment is not a license for contempt; it is a summons to worship the Creator and recover a mind capable of calling good and evil by their proper names.
