BIBLE JOURNEY · MARK

Following Jesus Includes His Mission

STUDY 160Mark 1:17 · ESV

FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV

Mark 1:17

Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.

THE WORD

Jesus called working fishermen to follow Him and promised to make them fishers of people. He took familiar skills and reoriented their whole lives around His kingdom.

The metaphor is about gathering people into the good news, not trapping, manipulating, or collecting followers for our platform. Jesus forms witnesses over time; the disciples themselves remained unfinished learners.

Your work, relationships, neighborhood, and digital reach can become places of faithful witness. Mission grows from following Christ before it becomes a strategy for reaching others.

CONFRONTATION QUESTION

How is following Jesus currently reshaping the purpose of one skill or relationship already in your hands?

FAITH RESPONSE

I will follow Jesus as a learner and let Him redirect my ordinary life toward truthful, loving witness.

🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™

Prayer

Lord Jesus, keep us close enough to be formed and available enough to be sent. Redeem our skills for service and free our witness from manipulation or self-promotion.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
TODAY’S ASSIGNMENT

Truth must become practice.

Choose one existing skill or relationship and list two respectful ways it can serve another person and point toward Christ.
