Pray With Faith Under the Wisdom of God

THE WORD

Jesus teaches bold confidence in prayer within a passage that also commands forgiveness and centers faith in God. Prayer is relational trust, not mental technique or grammatical control over outcomes.

Doubt, diagnosis, grief, and honest questions do not cancel prayer. Scripture includes lament, unanswered requests, Paul’s unremoved thorn, and Jesus praying, ‘Not what I will, but what You will.’ Faith trusts God’s character even when the answer is no, wait, or different.

Ask specifically, forgive responsibly, pursue appropriate care, and remain open to God’s wisdom. We pray expectantly without blaming sufferers for outcomes they did not control.

Faithful God, hear our requests and heal the wounds caused by teaching that blamed unanswered prayer on sufferers. Grow bold trust, honest lament, forgiveness, and surrender within us.

Write one specific request, one truth about God’s character, and one practical act of obedience that does not depend on controlling the answer.

Practice interpreting before teaching

Observe: identify the speaker, audience, situation, and two statements the passage makes explicitly.
Interpret: state the conclusion in your own words and explain which details support it. Mark any inference.
Compare: give a reasonable alternative reading fairly. Explain why the context supports or weakens it.
Apply: propose one present-day response. Identify what the passage does not promise and whose circumstances require care.
Revise: check the title, illustration, prayer, and assignment against the same evidence. Change any statement that exceeds it.

A strong response names evidence, handles an objection fairly, and distinguishes application from the passage’s direct statement. Agreement with a teacher alone is not a demonstration of understanding.
