The Blood Must Be Applied

God did not say "When I see your good intentions, I will pass over you." He did not say "When I see your church attendance record" or "when I see how many years you have been a believer" or "when I see how hard you have been trying." He said: When I see the blood. The blood was the only distinguishing mark between life and death that night in Egypt. It was not ethnicity — it was application. The blood had to be taken from the basin and physically applied to the doorpost. It was not enough for the lamb to be slain. The blood had to be put on the door. Many families in Israel had the blood in a basin that night. But only those who applied it to the doorpost were protected. The slain lamb without applied blood is a tragedy, not a salvation.

This is the single most devastating indictment of nominal Christianity in all of Scripture. The Lamb has been slain. Jesus Christ, the Passover Lamb, has shed His blood in full — enough to cover every sin, every household, every generation. But the blood does not cover what it has not been applied to. You can know about the blood, sing about the blood, preach about the blood, and still have the door of your life exposed because you have never personally, deliberately, specifically applied that blood to the doorposts of your existence. Head knowledge of the cross is not the same as the applied blood of the covenant. The death angel does not check your theology — it looks for the blood.

The application of the blood required action. The Israelites had to take the bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood, and strike it on the lintel and the two side posts of the door. It was deliberate. It was specific. It was urgent — the angel was coming that night. And there is an urgency to this message today because judgment is not a distant theological concept. The destroyer is moving. The question is whether the blood has been applied — not just believed in academically, but appropriated personally, intentionally, and completely — to every doorpost of your life: your mind, your relationships, your children, your finances, your calling, your household.

Are there areas of your life where the blood has never been applied? Rooms you have kept locked from God's covering? Relationships you have never submitted to the lordship of Christ? Business dealings, thought patterns, entertainment choices, secret compromises that have never been brought under the blood? The Passover is personal. The blood is sufficient. But you must apply it. Stop leaving basins of unapplied blood in your spiritual life. Strike every doorpost. Leave nothing uncovered. The night is coming when only the blood will matter.
