Genesis 3:9
Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.THE WORD
God knew exactly where Adam was. He knows exactly where you are too. This question was not born out of divine ignorance — it was born out of divine confrontation. God was not searching the garden in confusion; He was drawing a man out of hiding. And He is doing the same to you right now. The question is not for His benefit. It is for yours. Where are you? Not geographically. Spiritually. Morally. In your obedience. In your relationship with Him. In your integrity when no one is watching. Where — are — you?
Adam and Eve had it all. Communion with God in the cool of the day. A paradise without lack, without shame, without sickness, without separation. And then, in one moment of prideful disobedience — in one act of preferring their own reasoning over God's command — they lost it all. But here is the part that should stop you cold: they did not run to God when they sinned. They hid. They covered themselves with leaves. They made excuses. Sound familiar? Because that is exactly what you do. When you sin, when you fail, when you fall — your first instinct is to hide, to cover, to justify, to blame someone else. Just like Adam. Just like Eve. The nature of the first Adam is alive and working in you.
But God does not let the hiding go unchallenged. He walked into the garden and called out. He will walk into your comfortable hiding place today — your busyness, your entertainment, your religious routine that has become a substitute for real relationship — and He will call out the same question: Where are you? You cannot serve God and stay hidden. You cannot walk in purpose and remain in the shadows of shame and sin. The covering of leaves — your self-made excuses and religious performance — will not hold. It never does.
The only way out of hiding is the same way Adam had to come out — through honesty before God. Not polished, not packaged, not presented well — just raw and honest. God has not called you to impress Him. He has called you to encounter Him. Stop hiding in the bushes of busyness, behind the fig leaves of a Sunday smile, in the shadows of a spiritual life that looks fine on the outside but is dying on the inside. Come out. Own where you are. Only then can He take you where you need to be.
CONFRONTATION QUESTION
Where are you — really — in your walk with God right now, and what specifically are you hiding behind to avoid having to answer that honestly?
FAITH RESPONSE
🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™
Prayer
Truth must become practice.
Get alone with God today — no phone, no noise — and speak out loud to Him the one thing you have been hiding, avoiding, or refusing to face. Name it. Confess it. Surrender it. Do not let another day pass with it buried.
