FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURE · ESV

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.
Ephesians 3:20 (ESV)

WISDOM WHISPERS™

Boundaries are meant to be broken when God’s power is leading us beyond our limitations into His limitless possibilities.
— Bishop W. F. Houston Jr.

Word StudyBeyond all measure; exceedingly and superabundantly. Paul stacks language to declare that God’s ability surpasses the outer edge of human request and imagination.

THE DEVOTION

Some boundaries protect life; others imprison it. Wisdom must know the difference. God does not call us to violate moral limits, despise healthy restraint, or rename recklessness as faith. But He does confront the borders constructed by fear, shame, inherited expectations, and the quiet assumption that our present experience defines the limit of His power.

Paul uses the extraordinary word hyperekperissou—language stretched toward “far more abundantly.” Human imagination reaches an edge; divine ability does not. We ask according to what we have seen. We think according to what we have survived. God works according to His power. The measurement changes when the subject of the sentence is no longer our capacity but His.

Notice, however, that the power is “at work within us.” Paul is not selling spectators a religious fantasy. God’s power forms, corrects, strengthens, and moves obedient people. A boundary does not break because we repeat inspirational language at it. It breaks as divine power produces courage, discipline, endurance, wisdom, and faithful action in those willing to move when God says move.

Many limitations survive because they became familiar. We decorated the wall, learned its dimensions, and called confinement stability. Fear says the known prison is safer than an unfamiliar promise. Faith does not deny the wall; it refuses to grant the wall final authority when God has opened a way through it.

Do not break boundaries merely to prove you can. Break the ones that obstruct obedience. Leave intact every boundary that guards holiness, covenant, wisdom, and truth. Then step through whatever fear built against God’s assignment. His power is not permission for ego to become limitless; it is provision for faithful people to move beyond the limits that kept purpose contained.

🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™

Prayer

Father, give us discernment to distinguish protective boundaries from prisons built by fear. Tear down every limitation that resists Your assignment while teaching us to honor every boundary that protects holiness and wisdom. Let Your power work within us as courage, discipline, patience, and obedient action. Expand our imagination without enlarging our ego, and lead us beyond what has confined our purpose. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

BENEDICTION

May the God who is able to do far more abundantly than you can ask or imagine strengthen you to cross every boundary that obstructs obedience while keeping you safely within the wisdom of His will.
