Paul says all Scripture is breathed out by God and useful for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. All Scripture matters, including the portions that disturb, confuse, or confront us. Yet usefulness does not mean every verse functions in the same way or can be lifted from its covenant and literary setting.
Poetry, law, narrative, prophecy, wisdom, Gospel, and letter must be read according to their form and place in the whole canon. Christians read the Old Testament as Scripture fulfilled in Christ, not as permission to reenact every ancient command without distinction. Responsible interpretation honors inspiration by refusing careless flattening.
Let comfortable passages encourage you and difficult passages slow you down. Study with the church, use sound resources, ask honest questions, and remain teachable. Scripture equips God’s servant not merely with information, but for good work shaped by truth, holiness, mercy, and love.

Begin one avoided biblical book with a reliable study Bible or commentary. Record its genre, audience, covenant setting, main claim, and relationship to Christ before applying it personally.
