Come to the Table of Mercy

THE WORD

Isaiah 1 is a covenant lawsuit against a people whose worship coexists with violence and injustice. When God says, ‘Come now, let us reason together,’ He is not minimizing scarlet sin; He is summoning His people to truthful repentance and renewed obedience.

The promise of cleansing is grace, not a declaration that God never opposes evil. The chapter commands: cease doing evil, learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression, and defend the vulnerable. Mercy welcomes us home and changes how we live.

Shame says hiding is safer. The gospel says Christ receives those who come honestly. Bring sin into wise confession, make restitution where harm was done, seek safety and lawful accountability where necessary, and receive cleansing that produces justice rather than performance.
