Isaiah 40 speaks comfort to an exiled people who feared their way was hidden from God. The everlasting Creator does not faint, and He gives power to the weary. The emphasis falls on God’s inexhaustible strength, not on blaming tired people.
Exhaustion is not proof that someone stopped trusting. Illness, grief, trauma, disability, caregiving, poverty, overwork, medication, or unsafe conditions can drain a faithful person. Waiting on God may include sleep, treatment, boundaries, assistance, lament, and structural change.
To wait is to hope in the LORD when our own resources are insufficient. Receive renewal in the form God provides, and let community carry those who cannot presently soar. A slow walk with support is still held by grace.
