Coming to Yourself and Coming Home

Luke 15:17–18

THE WORD

The younger son ‘came to himself’ in the far country and turned toward his father. Repentance involved honest recognition, changed direction, and words prepared without entitlement.

The father ran, embraced, and restored him before a full speech could become payment. Grace welcomed the returning son as son, not as a worker earning a place back.

Coming home does not mean returning to an abusive family or unsafe environment. The parable reveals God’s welcome. Human reconciliation still requires truth, safety, boundaries, and sometimes distance.

What truth have you finally become ready to face, and what safe step of return follows from it?

I will arise and turn toward the Father, trusting grace while practicing repentance through honest and safe action.

Waiting Father, bring us to honest clarity and receive every returning person with mercy. Guide repair, protect the vulnerable, and restore identity without bypassing truth.
