Jesus reads Isaiah in Nazareth and announces the Spirit-anointed shape of His messianic mission: good news to the poor, liberty, sight, freedom, and the Lord’s favor. The text first tells us who Jesus is and what He came to do.
Believers participate in Christ’s mission through the Spirit, but we are not identical to the Messiah and cannot promise every healing or liberation on demand. Our service remains dependent, accountable, and honest about limits.
Good news addresses whole people. Proclamation, practical care, trauma-informed support, justice, accessible community, and appropriate professional help can belong together beneath the lordship of Jesus.
