BIBLE JOURNEY · EZEKIEL

God Breathes Life Into a People

STUDY 116Ezekiel 37:3 · ESV

FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV

Ezekiel 37:3

Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.

THE WORD

Ezekiel’s valley represents ‘the whole house of Israel’ in exile, saying, ‘Our hope is lost.’ The vision promises corporate restoration by God’s word and Spirit; it is larger than personal positive speech over a difficult situation.

Ezekiel speaks because God commands him, and the breath comes from God. Human declarations do not manufacture resurrection. We can proclaim Scripture faithfully while admitting that outcomes remain in divine hands.

When a community feels scattered and lifeless, restoration may involve truth, repentance, justice, trauma care, rebuilt trust, patient organization, and the Spirit’s breath. Hope rises as a people, not only as isolated bones.

CONFRONTATION QUESTION

Where does your community need God’s restoring breath and the patient work of truthful rebuilding?

I will proclaim God’s hope without magical thinking and participate in the communal work of restoration.
