Ezekiel 36:26
Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.THE WORD
Ezekiel 36 does not say God is unable to work until a stone heart surrenders. God Himself promises, ‘I will remove the heart of stone… and give you a heart of flesh.’ The initiative belongs to sovereign grace.
The promise addresses Israel’s restoration, cleansing, and renewed obedience for the sake of God’s holy name. A heart of flesh is responsive to God, not merely emotional, agreeable, or free from mental illness.
Ask God for what only God can give, then participate in the practices grace enables: repentance, Scripture, community, treatment, restitution, boundaries, and obedience. Even the desire to return can be evidence of His merciful work.
CONFRONTATION QUESTION
Where do you need to stop treating transformation as self-repair and ask God for the new heart He promises?
