Isaiah spoke to exiles by recalling the exodus and promising a new act of restoration. ‘Remember not the former things’ does not erase memory, grief, history, or lessons learned. God invites His people not to imprison His future inside their past expectations.
The new thing belongs first to God’s covenant purpose for His people. It is not a private prophecy that every reader is entering a dramatic season, nor a guarantee that rivers will appear in the exact form we imagine.
Honor the past without living beneath its control. Trauma may require patient, professional care rather than forced forgetting. Watch for present grace, test new opportunities wisely, and let hope become faithful movement rather than hype.
