Isaiah 64:6

Isaiah 64 is a communal lament from people confessing sin, grieving devastation, and asking God to act. ‘All our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment’ describes the compromised condition of a people whose iniquity has carried them away.
The verse should not be used to say every act of obedience, justice, care, or Spirit-produced fruit disgusts God. Scripture also speaks of good works prepared by grace and lives that please Him. Our works cannot justify us, but grace makes faithful action meaningful.
Confess without despising the image of God in yourself or others. Receive righteousness in Christ, then practice the good that grace creates. Humility does not call every gift filthy; it refuses to make gifts the basis of salvation.
