BIBLE JOURNEY · EZEKIEL

Hearing Must Become Practice

STUDY 114Ezekiel 33:31 · ESV

FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV

Ezekiel 33:31

Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.

THE WORD

Ezekiel’s hearers enjoyed his words as they might enjoy a beautiful performance, but they did not put them into practice. The text confronts religious consumption detached from obedience.

It does not authorize us to judge every church attendee’s intentions or demand instant visible change. Formation can be slow, hidden, complicated by trauma or illness, and supported by counseling, community, and repeated practice.

The honest question is personal: what truth have I admired without obeying? Choose one proportionate action and repeat it long enough for hearing to become habit.

CONFRONTATION QUESTION

Which biblical truth have you appreciated intellectually while resisting its concrete practice?

FAITH RESPONSE

I will move from admiration to obedience through grace, wise support, and sustained practice.

🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™

Prayer

Teacher and Lord, keep us from consuming truth without change. Give us patient courage, supportive community, and concrete obedience that grows over time.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
TODAY’S ASSIGNMENT

Truth must become practice.

Choose one recent sermon or passage and write a small, measurable practice to repeat for the next seven days.
