BIBLE JOURNEY · MALACHI

Honor the LORD Beyond Leftovers

STUDY 147Malachi 1:6 · ESV

FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV

Malachi 1:6

Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.

THE WORD

Malachi addresses priests who offered animals forbidden by the covenant while reserving better treatment for human governors. The primary issue is contemptuous leadership and compromised worship, not a generic demand that every believer give more money.

The language of blemished animals belongs to Israel’s sacrificial system and must not be applied to people with disabilities or illness. Human beings bear God’s image and must never be described as defective offerings.

Honor becomes visible through integrity, attention, truthful preparation, and care for people. Leaders bear special responsibility not to offer God public excellence while giving communities neglect, unsafe systems, or private corruption.

CONFRONTATION QUESTION

Where has familiarity with sacred responsibility produced carelessness, contempt, or leftovers?

FAITH RESPONSE

I will honor the LORD with integrity and preparation while refusing to measure human dignity by ability, health, or productivity.

🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™

Prayer

Father and Master, restore reverence to our leadership and worship. Forgive careless stewardship, protect every person’s dignity, and make our service truthful in public and private.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
TODAY’S ASSIGNMENT

Truth must become practice.

Choose one neglected responsibility and improve its preparation, safety, or follow-through before presenting it to others.
