Malachi closes with the promise that Elijah will turn the hearts of fathers to children and children to fathers. The New Testament connects this expectation with John the Baptist’s ministry of preparing people for the Lord.
Generational reconciliation requires repentance and truth. It cannot be manufactured by demanding that estranged or abused relatives restore access. Some relationships need boundaries, supervised contact, long-term accountability, or acceptance that reconciliation is not presently safe.
The church can help generations turn through listening, mentoring, trauma-informed care, confession, repair, and honoring both elders and younger voices. Revival reaches homes, but it must not make the home a place where harm is hidden.
