Return to Me, Says the LORD

Zechariah 1:3

THE WORD

Zechariah calls a new generation not to repeat the refusal of their ancestors. ‘Return to me … and I will return to you’ is covenant summons and promise, not a claim that every felt distance from God was caused by one person’s failure.

Scripture also contains faithful lament from people who seek God and still experience hiddenness. Trauma, depression, grief, illness, and spiritual dryness can affect perception without proving rebellion.

Where sin is clear, return through confession, repair, and renewed practice. Where God feels distant without a clear cause, remain gently in Scripture and community, seek pastoral or clinical help, and refuse false accusation.

I will return where I have wandered and remain faithfully present where God feels hidden, receiving grace without false accusation.

Covenant God, call wanderers home and sustain those who seek You through darkness. Give clear repentance, patient companionship, wise care, and renewed assurance of Your mercy.
