BIBLE JOURNEY · ACTS

The Spirit Empowers Witness and Consoles the Church

STUDY 177Acts 1:8 · ESV

FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV

Acts 1:8

Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.

THE WORD

Jesus promises power when the Holy Spirit comes, and that power moves the church outward as witnesses from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. Acts unfolds along that geography.

The Spirit is not given only for private comfort, but neither is comfort opposed to mission. Jesus calls the Spirit Helper and Comforter; consolation, holiness, guidance, gifts, unity, and witness all belong to His ministry.

Spirit-empowered witness is not hype or domination. It tells the truth about the risen Jesus, crosses social boundaries, shares power, cares for neighbors, and remains accountable to the character of Christ.

CONFRONTATION QUESTION

Where is the Spirit inviting your witness to cross a boundary of fear, prejudice, or isolation?

FAITH RESPONSE

I receive the Spirit’s comfort, holiness, and power so that my life can bear faithful witness to Jesus.

🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™

Prayer

Holy Spirit, comfort the wounded, sanctify Your church, and empower truthful witness. Break prejudice, protect the vulnerable, and make our mission look like Jesus.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
TODAY’S ASSIGNMENT

Truth must become practice.

Identify your Jerusalem and one overlooked ‘Samaria.’ Take one respectful step of listening, service, or gospel witness in each.
