Outrage Is Easy—Intercession Costs Something

God searches for a certain kind of person and, heartbreakingly, comes up empty: 'I sought for a man... who should stand in the breach before me for the land... but I found none.' The word is perets — a breach, a gap in the wall, the vulnerable place where the enemy pours through. And God is looking for someone willing to stand there — in the dangerous, exposed gap — and intercede. Not comment on the breach. Not photograph it. Not post about it. Stand IN it, and pray.

This speaks with piercing relevance to our outrage age. We have become a generation of commentators. Something goes wrong in the culture, and instantly everyone has a hot take, a post, an angry thread, a share. Outrage is easy — it costs nothing, requires no sacrifice, and delivers a quick hit of feeling righteous without doing anything. We've mistaken venting our anger online for actually addressing the problem. But God is not scanning the earth for another commentator. He's searching for an intercessor.

And here's the difference that convicts: outrage is easy, but intercession costs something. To stand in the breach means to take the burden of the broken thing onto your own knees, to carry it before God in prayer, to sacrifice time and comfort in the hidden place where no one applauds. It's harder than posting, less visible than commenting, and far more powerful. The Sugar-Free Gospel™ says it plainly: anyone can broadcast their anger, but God is looking for someone willing to bleed the gap in prayer.

Intercession must not become a substitute for action. Prayer can lead to reporting abuse, voting, serving, giving, organizing, repairing systems, protecting vulnerable people, and listening to communities carrying the cost. Outrage performs concern; faithful intercession lets concern become accountable love.
