Abundant Life Under the Good Shepherd

THE WORD

Jesus contrasts thieves and destructive shepherds with His own life-giving ministry. The abundant life is found under the care of the Good Shepherd who knows the sheep and lays down His life for them.

Abundance is not a guarantee of wealth, perfect health, constant happiness, or immunity from suffering. Jesus’ own path moved through rejection and the cross. Christian abundance is communion with God, secure belonging, truth, purpose, community, and resurrection hope.

Church leaders must resemble the Shepherd rather than the thief. Protect the flock, tell the truth, reject exploitation, and help people flourish without promising outcomes Scripture does not promise.
