FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV
John 3:3
Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.THE WORD
Nicodemus possessed learning, status, and sincere religious concern, yet Jesus told him that seeing God’s kingdom requires birth from above. Christian life begins with God’s regenerating action, not inherited culture or moral résumé.
New birth is not proven by one emotional style or instant perfection. The Spirit produces a growing life marked by trust in Christ, repentance, love, truth, and the freedom to come into the light.
Assurance rests in God’s promise and the object of faith, not endless self-inspection. Honest questions can be brought to Scripture, prayer, baptismal identity, pastoral care, and a trustworthy church.
