Faithful Stewardship Without Burying People

THE WORD

The parable concerns servants entrusted with their master’s property and held accountable for responsive stewardship. It confronts fear-driven inaction and a distorted view of the master.

‘Talent’ in the story is money, not a direct code for every ability or entrepreneurial dream. We may apply the stewardship principle, but we should not shame disabled, exhausted, grieving, poor, or overlooked people whose capacity differs from ours.

Faithfulness begins with what has actually been entrusted and proceeds according to ability. Small, quiet, well-supported service can honor God as surely as visible multiplication.

Generous Master, correct our distorted fears. Give courage for proportionate action, rest for depleted servants, and communities that help every gift serve without exploitation.
