BIBLE JOURNEY · MATTHEW

Serve God With Money, Not Money as God

STUDY 152Matthew 6:24 · ESV

FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV

Matthew 6:24

Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.

THE WORD

Jesus names mammon as a rival master because wealth can promise security, identity, control, and freedom while quietly demanding allegiance. Money is a useful servant but a destructive lord.

This verse does not require reckless giving, unpaid obligations, or obedience to manipulative fundraising. Responsible budgeting, provision for dependents, saving, generosity, debt counseling, and transparent stewardship can all express service to God.

Audit the heart behind your financial habits. Ask whether fear, status, greed, or kingdom love governs the choices, then bring money under accountable discipleship.

CONFRONTATION QUESTION

Where does money currently exercise more authority over your imagination than the teaching of Jesus?

FAITH RESPONSE

God alone is my Master; I will steward money with generosity, responsibility, transparency, and freedom from fear.

🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™

Prayer

Provider God, expose greed and financial fear. Protect us from manipulation, give households wisdom, and make every resource serve love, justice, worship, and responsible care.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
TODAY’S ASSIGNMENT

Truth must become practice.

Review one month of spending without shame. Mark one expense to change, one obligation to honor, and one sustainable act of generosity.
