Paul places spectacular speech, prophetic insight, knowledge, faith, generosity, and sacrifice beneath the test of love. A gift may impress a crowd and still fail the person standing nearest to it. Spiritual capacity is not self-validating.
Love is not vague niceness. In the chapter that follows, it is patient, kind, humble, truthful, enduring, and free from self-seeking. This means gifted ministry must be evaluated by character, safeguarding, accountability, and the treatment of people who cannot advance the platform.
Do not excuse harm because someone is effective. Do not assume visibility proves divine approval. Let love govern how gifts are used, corrected, paced, and sometimes removed from public expression while character receives attention. God values people more than performance.
