Peter stepped from the boat at Jesus’ invitation and then became afraid in the storm. The story holds courage, fragility, prayer, and rescue together. His sinking was not the end of discipleship.
This passage should not blame people for illness, financial hardship, trauma, or uncontrollable circumstances by saying they looked at the storm. Faith does not deny evidence, and fear can be a normal human response to danger.
Peter cried, ‘Lord, save me,’ and Jesus immediately took hold of him. When courage fails, pray honestly, receive help, and let rescue become the place where trust is formed again.
