BIBLE JOURNEY · JEREMIAH

The Ancient Path Is Covenant Faithfulness

STUDY 102Jeremiah 6:16 · ESV

FOUNDATIONAL READING · ESV

Jeremiah 6:16

Read the complete passage slowly before entering the reflection. Let the biblical text govern every application that follows.

THE WORD

Jeremiah’s ‘ancient paths’ are not nostalgia for a preferred decade, culture, or style of church. They point Judah back to the good covenant way of justice, faithfulness, and obedience they had refused.

Old is not automatically holy, and new is not automatically compromise. Every tradition and innovation must be tested by Scripture, the character of Christ, wisdom, truth, and its fruit among neighbors—especially the vulnerable.

Stand at the crossroads and ask with humility. Preserve what is faithful, repent of inherited harm, and use new tools without surrendering ancient truth. Rest is found in God’s good way, not in romanticized history.

CONFRONTATION QUESTION

Which tradition or innovation in your life needs honest testing by covenant faithfulness rather than by age alone?

FAITH RESPONSE

I will seek the good way, preserve truth, repent of inherited harm, and test every path by Scripture and faithful fruit.

Prayer

Ancient of Days, give us discernment at the crossroads. Keep us from nostalgia and novelty worship, and lead us in the good way of truth, justice, and love.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
TODAY’S ASSIGNMENT

Truth must become practice.

Evaluate one cherished tradition and one new practice by the same biblical standards. Keep, revise, or release them accordingly.
