Jeremiah warns that the human heart can be deceitful and difficult to understand. Our desires and interpretations are real, but they are not infallible authorities. The next verse says the LORD searches the heart and tests the mind.
This does not mean emotions are useless or that every intuition is a lie. Feelings can reveal wounds, needs, joy, fear, and values. They need compassionate attention and wise testing rather than blind obedience or contempt.
Bring the inner life beneath Scripture, prayer, evidence, trusted counsel, and appropriate clinical care. Trauma, depression, anxiety, or scrupulosity may distort perception; receiving help is wisdom, not rebellion against the Bible.
