God Does His Best Work in the Dark
The darkness you fear is often the very nest where God is sitting on your beginning.

FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURE · ESV
“The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”Genesis 1:2 (ESV)
WISDOM WHISPERS™
“The darkness you fear is often the very nest where God is sitting on your beginning.”— Bishop W. F. Houston Jr.
Word StudyTo hover, to flutter, to brood — the tender motion of a mother bird over her nest, the same verb used of an eagle stirring its young in Deuteronomy 32:11. God does not merely stand over chaos; He nests over it, brooding like a mother over an egg He fully intends to hatch.
THE DEVOTION
Before there was a single star, there was darkness over the deep. 🌑 And the very first thing Scripture tells us about God's posture toward chaos is not that He destroyed it, condemned it, or fled from it. He hovered over it. Rachaph. He brooded over the formless void like a mother over an egg she has every intention of hatching.
This dismantles a lie many believers carry in silence: that the dark, disordered seasons of life are proof of God's absence. Genesis says the opposite, no sugar. The formless place is exactly where the Spirit chooses to hover. Your chaos is not evidence He left. It is often the very nest He is sitting on. 🕊️
And notice — God creates from the dark, not away from it. He does not import light from some brighter location. He speaks directly into the darkness that was already there. The raw material of the void becomes the canvas of creation. What you have written off as wasted and formless, God reads as a beginning.
So stop begging God to remove the darkness before He does something in you. 🙏🏿 Some of His finest work is done in rooms with no lights on. The deep is not your grave — it may be your nest. Let Him brood over it until form comes forth.
🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™
