Grace Is Not a License to Coast
Cheap grace is not grace. Real grace does not only pardon you in the courtroom; it trains you in the classroom.

FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURE · ESV
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions.”Titus 2:11-12 (ESV)
WISDOM WHISPERS™
“Cheap grace is not grace. Real grace does not only pardon you in the courtroom; it trains you in the classroom.”— Bishop W. F. Houston Jr.
Word StudyTo train, instruct, and discipline as one raises a child — the root of our word 'pedagogy.' Paul says grace itself is a trainer. It does not merely forgive; it corrects, shapes, and educates the ones it saves.
THE DEVOTION
There is a version of grace being preached that stops at the pardon. ⛖ It says: you are forgiven, now relax. But Paul refuses to let grace end at the courtroom. He follows it into the classroom. The same grace that saves, paideuo — trains. Grace is not only a verdict. It is a teacher who will not tolerate a lazy student.
This is the confrontation most pulpits skip. Real grace is not permission to stay who you were. It is the power to become who you were made to be. The blood that covers you is also the blood that changes you. 🔥 If the grace you received left you comfortable in your ungodliness, it may not have been grace at all — just a soothing lie wearing grace's clothing.
Grace cost God everything. To treat it as a license to coast is to spit on the price. The Sugar-Free Gospel™ will say what soft preaching won't: the gift was free to you, but it was purchased at the highest cost in the universe.
You honor a costly gift by letting it change you — not by using it as an excuse to stay unchanged. 🙏🏿 If your grace never disciplines you, you are not standing in grace. You are hiding behind a word. Let it teach you, or admit you never truly met it.
🙏🏿 LET US GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GRACE AND MERCY.™
